If the MTR test fails to reach the final hop, i.e., does not reach the intended IP address, and is interrupted within an intermediate network, the test result on the map should show as "unreachable," rather than displaying the delay at the location of the network interruption.

I suppose we could check this for IP targets, but when targeting a domain, I don't see a way to identify what's the "final" hop meant to be. And doing this only for IPs might be confusing.

If the test is on a domain name, the domain name will first be resolved to an IP address, which is the same as when we ping a domain name and first obtain an IP address. Use the resolved IP address as the final hop IP address.
